Jockey Club Arts Make SENse Programme aims at promoting an inclusive arts practice that is accessible and inclusive to all community members, but particularly people with Special Educational Need (SEN), and ultimately promote social inclusion in long run. In collaboration with renowned local artists, the project interweaves art and SEN services to at first enrich social workers’ intervention, and enable them to be more sensitive to people, materials and surroundings in embodied way.
Meanwhile, the project enables children and youth with SEN to use various art medium to explore and share their inner world, express and ventilate their emotions. When children and youth with SEN are able to finish their work gradually, it manifests executive function and enhances their sense of competency. Moreover, they develop positive relationship with others through sharing their works. Besides, the project would promote numerous participatory public art programmes in purpose for liaising people with different needs and ability in the community and promoting public awareness of people with SEN, and achieve social inclusion at its core.
